New England Aster




Blooming time: September to October

Height: Up to 4 ft.

Stems and Leaves: The stems are hairy with alternate leaves up to 4 inches long and 1 inch wide.

Flowers and Fruit: The individually stalked flower heads are in an open, rounded cluster at the tops of the main stem branches. Their may be 40 or more bright purple petals surrounding a central yellow disk. Each flower head is about 1 1/2 " wide. The petals are sometimes pinkish purple or lavender.
